My blogging hiatus is over!

 I’ve been very busy living my life and admittedly, I’ve spent more time venting on social media than taking the time to write thoughtful and informative blogposts. Well, I’m back y’all! 

I created this blog in 2008 because I felt there was too little being said about the cultural world most important to me, i.e. the Black cultural world. Although more is being discussed about this world now, thanks in large part to social media, I can’t say I’m energized by the quality of the discourse given that so much of it is focused on popular culture and very little on cultural criticism. Everyone has an opinion but not necessarily one grounded in knowledge. So, I’m feeling moved to put my thoughts on paper, or actually on tablet and resume my Art & Racenotes commentary.

In the coming months, I’m committing to write a monthly commentary on those aspects of Black culture that I’m most passionate about as well as on those issues affecting Black culture bearers that may not be getting addressed. The year 2026 will be my year to keep the writing on the top of my list. Check me out and engage with me if you’re so inclined!
